Stock Market Likely to Decline in 2017

The stock market traded down 800 points overnight, but the real stock market did not open until 9:30 am Wednesday morning.  It opened up slightly before turning down.  There may be some initial celebration of the Republican sweep, but America tends to be suspicious of new Presidents, especially Republicans replacing Democrats in the White House. When this happens, the market tends to decline significantly.

Trump, Clinton and Gold

Gold continues to rise, slowly but surely, due in part to the revelation of the renewed FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.  It seems the FBI was in turmoil over disclosing this information.  This news took her likely victory margin (in the Washington Post poll) from 12 points two weeks ago to just two points as of last Friday.  (Gold will likely rise faster under a Trump presidency, so gold has recovered somewhat on this news.)

The U. S. Mint’s Principal Deputy Director, Rhett Jeppson, invited me and over 50 public members to attend a Numismatic Forum on October 13, 2016 at the Federal Reserve Bank in Philadelphia.  We later toured privately the U. S. Mint, the home of Peter the Mint Eagle, the most visited tourist attraction in Philadelphia.
