At the National Rifle Association’s national conference in Atlanta I visited briefly with Donald Trump, Jr., Sheriff David Clarke, Dana Loesch and Wayne LaPierre. With an attendance of over 81,000 people, it ranked second only to the 86,223 that attended the 2013 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Houston. President Trump spoke at the event, and was the first President since Reagan to do so.

April 2017 - Week 4 Edition
Gold Remains Strong
Gold had another strong week, staying above $1,280 all week, due to a series of important concerns, all coming at the same time – the controversial French elections, a confrontation in North Korea (and maybe Iran), dropping the Mother of All Bombs (MOAB) in Afghanistan, facing the U.S. federal debt limit this coming Friday, more terrorism in France, a crackdown on dissent in Turkey and U.S. air strikes in Syria.

Gold and Trump’s Popularity Rising
Gold rose another $35 last week, mostly due to the escalation of hostilities in Syria, Afghanistan and North Korea. At the same time, stocks declined 1.5% in the first half of April, so gold and silver are now far ahead of stocks for 2017. To date, silver is up 14.3%, gold is up 12.1% vs. just 3.5% for the Dow Jones index and 4.0% for the S&P 500.

Gold and Trump’s Popularity Rising

The Tooth Fairy Index Rose 19.2% Last Year
Inflation is heating up again, which is good for gold and silver, and that is nowhere more evident than in the Tooth Fairy index. According to the Original Tooth Fairy Poll, sponsored by Delta Dental, the average parental payout for a tooth under the pillow rose from $3.91 in 2015 to $4.66 in 2016, a gain of 19.2%.

Gold, Rare Coins and Chuck Todd Shine in First Quarter of 2017
For the first quarter of 2017, gold rose 8.5% and silver rose 12.6% while most other commodities fell. The widely-watched 19-commodity CRB Index fell 3.4%, while crude oil fell 5.8% and natural gas fell 14.3%. This underlines gold’s role as a currency, not just a commodity.

Last week, I was invited to attend the 2017 Texas Energy Museum “Blowout,” where Laura Ingraham was the featured speaker. She told us that she is considering a run for the U.S. Senate from the state of Virginia next year, running against Democrat Tim Kaine, who was Hillary Clinton’s running mate in 2016.
