Private, Volunteer Help is Often the Best – Especially in Texas!
The national news media is showing non-stop pictures of the devastation in Texas – and now Florida – while often ignoring some inspiring stories of volunteer relief efforts, mostly by private-sector volunteers, with most of those being people of faith – from church and religious community groups of all varieties.

Melania Trump and Gold Pitch-Perfect in Lake Charles, Louisiana
When the Trumps first travelled to Texas last week, the media savaged the First Lady with criticism over her high-heeled shoes and a Louis Vuitton bag she used to carry her change of clothes.

Silver Typically Soars in September
Silver is entering its “sweet spot” of the year. This September, silver has another special reason for rising – rising industrial demand. Since 1975, silver has gained an average of 4.1% every September, making September far and away the best month for silver.

Net Long Positions in Gold Rise 30% in a Week
Traders in the gold futures market are continuing to buy gold – as we had predicted earlier. According to the weekly Commitments of Traders report from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (released last Friday), net long positions in gold rose 30% for the week ending last Tuesday. Net long positions rose from 138,566 contracts the previous Tuesday to 179,537 contracts last Tuesday. This represents the highest level of net long contracts since last October, before the 2016 Presidential election, and it also marks the fifth straight weekly increase in net long positions. During the last five reporting weeks (July 10 to August 15), the net long positions in the gold futures market have expanded by almost eight-fold.

Gold is Still the “Star of the Commodity Universe”
One of the big stories missing in the mainstream media this year is the fact that gold is up nearly 10% while the bulk of all other commodities are down – often by 10% or more. Every weekend, The Wall Street Journal lists a table of leading commodities and gold is always the superstar at the top of the list.

The Great Urban vs. Rural Press Divide – about Trump and Gold
It is discouraging how little the average American knows about the gold and silver markets, since much of the press is so fixated with the Trump/Russia connection, to the exclusion of almost everything else. The average American couldn’t possibly know that gold is up over 325% since the dawn of the year 2000 vs. only 67% gains for the most widely-watched stock market index, the S&P 500.
