I remember very clearly, that my four children were in school and my husband was working. I was making my bed with the radio on and the news came on reporting President John F. Kennedys assassination. I became numb and I had to sit down on the bed and listen to the news report. I then went into the living room and turned on the TV. I just sat their listening until my kids came home from school. They had heard about it at school and were telling me about it. Then my husband came home. He worked construction and did not turn his radio on in his truck so he couldn't believe what I was telling him until he saw it on TV. For weeks after that this tragedy was the main focus of our conversations no matter where we went. The shock left a feeling of America being unsafe and the question remains WHY? Did such a good president and man have to die in this way. He was buried with great dignity and honor to remember him as a man who was well loved and respected by our country and all foreign nations.
Living in Jefferson County at the time of the Columbine shooting, and then the tragedy of World Trade Center in New York all brought back that feeling. it was the same feeling I had back when I first heard the first report on that radio that our great President and honorable man had been assassinated.
